This pages describes all of the sources where Vis is regularly harvested by
members of Malinbois.
Court of Queen Amoenitas (Uncontested)
The Court of Queen Bellantia was not entirely happy with our failure to
save their Queen. As a result, under their new Queen, we are now only
permitted to collect Vis once per year, upon the Winter Solstice. The
Vis is no longer contested - in the past we had to participate in a
series of (relatively easy) contests for it. A Rook of Rego Vis, in the
form of icicles, is gained. This is the only source of Technique Vis.
Seir's Waters (Uncontested)
After we had done him a favour, the friendly noble Viscount Orstadt
granted us access to his magical waters. A rook of Aquam Vis, basketfulls
of moss, is collected every summer. We also used to collect the waters,
which were most efficacious for preparing magical items, allowing twice
the normal quantity of effects to be instilled. Due to an earthquake,
however, the waters have dried up, although the moss is still gathered.
The Apple Garden (Contested)
This is a small orchard in the mountains guarded by a magical snake.
Every spring, when a small party is sent to harvest the vis, the creature
animates to protect the place, but it is not usually too hard to kill.
A keen-eyed person (such as Charles) is usually sent along to search
for the precious buried root nodules, which are Imaginem Vis. Upto
8 pawns can be found.
Ferrun's Reservoir (Uncontested)
Ferrun was a forester who used to live in a small hut in the forest
near the Covenant. However he came into an inheritance and was granted
some land northwest of Perpignan. Within his lands there is a magical
reservoir - crystals of Terram Vis can be found in the cave which
houses the underground lake. 8 pawns are collected every summer.
Ben Dearg (Uncontested)
A long-standing tithe of Vis which yields 3 pawns of Terram, 2 pawns of
Aquam and 2 pawns of Herbam every winter.
Home (Contested)
This site, which is a couple of week's journey away in the mountains, was
revealed by a group of wolves whom the covenant managed to befriend. Grogs
are sent into the cave system (on a remote plateau) and must negotiate
the obstacles within. When they emerge (from a chute), their sweaty bodies
are rubbed down with a suitable solvent (alcohol seems to work well) to
obtain small silvery balls of Vim Vis. The exact amount obtained seems to
depend on luck - or perhaps depends on the performance of the grogs sent
in - but can be as much as 12 pawns or as little as 6.
Crypt of the Cathedral in Perpignan (Uncontested)
A source of a Rook of Corpus Vis, in the form of thigh bones taken from
the large crypt. The source was traded with the covenant of Berinor for
a site located in a Faerie Regio near La Rochelle in northwestern France.
Half of the Corpus Vis is sent to Doissetep, with whom Malinbois jointly
own the site.
