Notes
Due to Helena's Cyclic Magic, her magic is strongest during summer,
and weakest in winter. Correspondingly, Creo is her primary Technique,
but she finds Perdo very hard. She does not take after her master
in that respect. Some of Felix's interest in necromancy has rubbed off on
her, but she is also interested in other areas, such as healing. Ultimately,
she hopes to be able to create independent life. The first stage in this
process was the invention of her first spell, The Immaculate Conception.
She hopes this will cause her to become pregnant, creating a child without a
father. Creating a child without a mother could be a lot more difficult,
however...
On her return trip from the Tribunal at Doissetep, she spent a couple of
weeks talking to the old Criamon Lucas, who began to teach her about the
Enigma. She has been out on a couple of expeditions not far from the
covenant, but mostly prefers to stay in her lab.
After being paid to create a Longevity potion for Id, and persuading
Salamandrus to swap some of the covenant's vis (at a very unfavourable
rate) Helena has finally managed to scrape together 3 pawns of Creo and
3 pawns of Corpus vis to test out her new spell. The ritual was cast
at midday on the summer solstice in 1236, that being the time when her
magic is strongest. It appears to have made her pregnant, and the birth
is expected in the spring...
Sure enough, Helena the Younger was born, exactly on time, at the spring
equinox. Most strangely, the child did not cry at birth. The baby seems to
be perfect in every respect, but is still rather unusual. It doesn't
seem to think like other babies - it doesn't dream - and it follows a
rigid, predictable pattern of behaviour each day. As it grows older, it looks
more and more like its mother. The child seems to be stongly Gifted, but
Helena is waiting to see how she will turn out.
Helena has recently been filling in her background knowledge of the Arts -
necessary if she is to train her daughter as her own apprentice. She has
also made several longevity potions, including one for herself.
Helena is currently away somewhere in the Tribunal of the Levant, seeking
out Madeleine so that she can learn about the Scarlet Cord.
Unbeknowst to Helena, her daughter Helena the Younger is actually a
