A Red Dwarf from Northern Europe, Vilmeid has a remarkable natural talent for changing form, though he was trained by an illusionist.

Appearance

Vilmeid has trouble meeting most children eye-to-eye. His diminutive body is covered in fine black hair, although this is not readily obvious except on his face (where it can be mistaken for a beard) and hands. His eyes are also striking, taking on the form of those of the last form he assumed, usually brilliant green with vertically-slitted pupils like the eyes of a cat.

He habitually dresses in a soft leather jerkin and boots of thick fur, avoiding the colour red due to superstitions of his kind. He rarely carries any equipment of note because of his frequent changing of form.

Origins

Vilmeid originates from Scandinavia, a land held in contest between the Rhine and Novgorod Tribunals.

Notes

Vilmeid is descended from the Red Dwarfs, a race of diminutive craftsmen that dwell in the frozen North. The Red Dwarfs are forest dwellers, and craft wood, leather and cloth in the main, unlike their Black cousins, who are primarily metalworkers. It is not clear whether the Dwarfs are fay in nature, or born of the Magical Realm, but they show few "typical" faerie features, if such there is such a thing as a typical faerie.

His mater was a powerful witch by the name of Svartholfi, who entered the Order late in life. Specializing in illusions, Svartholfi nonetheless gained entrance to House Bjornaer by nature of her shapechanging - her tradition (now extinct) also valued the raising of a Heart Beast as part of their training. Red Dwarfs are naturally adept at illusions, and so Svartholfi went to them when it became time for her to raise an apprentice. Vilmeid proved to be more of a typical Bjornaer than his parens - his Heart Beast surfaced before his Gauntlet, and he took many lessons from an aged Bjornaer by the name of Bolth, who walked as a bear when in his other skin. From Bolth's tuition came Vilmeid's remarkable aptitude at shapechanging.

With his Gauntlet passed at Fengheld, Vilmeid went off in search for another magus who hailed from there whom he had heard of - possibly the biggest magus in the Order. With himself being what he was sure must be the smallest, Id filius Praxis intrigued him. Thus he came to Malinbois...
