The Library of Malinbois

Over the years Malinbois has accumulated a large collection of assorted tomes and scrolls. It used to be the responsibility of the ex-librarius, Malevola Serini, to look after all the books - however her organisation of the Library was rather obscure, since she used to be a Criamon! More recently, the job was taken on by Salamandrus. Although better organised, he had to be careful not to destroy the books with his Automatic Magic. When some of the books disappeared, suspicion fell upon him, and so Helena was given the position instead. As she is a Bonisagus, the library is at last properly organised.

Sadly, many of the texts are not in the best state of repair, what with various mishaps that have occured, such as a fire, and the collapse of the sixth floor of the West Tower which used to house them. Many of the tomes are battered, and some are slightly charred. An ongoing project is in progress by Mandator's Obedient Apprentice to scribe the tomes onto fresh vellum. The books are now housed in the new central tower, after they grew mouldy when they were kept in the caves. As a result of the mould, most of the books were damaged, with the loss of some information and spells. This, coupled with the recent theft of books by Pan Cauderax and a mystery thief, means that the library is not quite as healthy as it once was.

As of Winter 1233, a new spate of mould attacked the books, despite the fact that they were now safely housed in the Central Tower. A strange supernatural effect seemed to be damaging much of the Covenant's infrastructure. As before, some valuable information was lost.

Recently, there seems to have been no further deterioration, and the library has recovered slightly, since many of the new magi have started scribing spells and Arts as covenant work.
