Vis Stocks and Sources
Vis Stocks: As of 1256, the covenant has about 118 pawns of vis
(doesn't contribute any BP)
Vis Sources: The covenant currently nets about 12 pawns each year (5
BP per pawn per year)
- 1 pawn of Aquam vis can be
collected from Inner Farne on St Cuthbert's day (23rd March) in the form
of sea-foam thrown up onto the rocks. This vis source was a gift from
Horsingas
- 1 pawn of Creo vis per year
comes from the Well of Boann in Ireland; this is collected by the Magi of
Lombard Covenant and sent over every 3 years
- The Basilisk Tree, found in
Wooler, has been planted on the peninsula leading up to Manor Head. This
produces 2 or so seed pods each year, each worth a pawn of Perdo vis.
- The Heart of a long-dead
giant chieftain is a diamond as large as a human head; every two seasons
(or thereabouts) one fragment sloughs off it, yielding a pawn of Vim vis.
This is clearly a finite source of vis.
- Once a year, on the day
following Wolf Moon (second full moon after Yule), the weather atop Eildon
Hill manifests in physical form, and may be captured in a bottle of blue
glass. This will yield 1 pawn of Auram vis
- Every spring, to celebrate
the marriage of Lord and Lady Cospatric, they imbue a flagon of mead with three
pawns of Mentem vis.
- The heart of the Faerie
Llawen - now a blackberry bush - yields 1 pawn of Herbam vis per year
Former Vis Sources:
- The two sons of Llawen on
Coquet island produce vis in the shape of fruit in mid-autumn every year;
magi may gather what falls on the ground from dawn until dusk. A source of
Corpus (crab-apples) and Mentem (damsons) vis; 2 fruit per year. [trees
felled]
- 3 pawns of Herbam vis
sprout from the top of the Hill of Mushrooms near the village of Paddesham
on Midsummer solstice each year. This source of vis used to belong to
Doire Druidhan; Julia brought it with her when she joined the covenant.
[dissolved by Lord Robigus]
- Water from the Dubh Loch,
the reflection of a blue moon produces a pawn of vis for every season
since the last blue moon - averages about 1 pawn a year. [given to Manus
ad Ferrum]
- The standing stones on
Manor Head can be used as a vis source. This was discovered by Hachim as
he studied the astrological arrangement of the stones. Unfortunately, the
manner of collection involves allowing oneself to be pulled into Twilight
with a specially prepared glass bubble, which will contain vis upon return
from the Void. The quantity of vis varies greatly, and the flavour is
determined by the astrological sign.
- Fergal's Rest exchange a
pawn of Imaginem vis for two pawns of any flavour each year, with the
stipulation that only one pawn of Herbam is exchanged. With the
destruction of that covenant, this agreement is in abatement
- A source of Mentem vis has
become apparent on Coquet Island - the mournful song of a ghostly maiden
can be collected in a bottle on midsummer's eve, providing 1-2 pawns of
vis. [now gone]
